Tips for Landlords
Make a good first impression Your property only has one chance to make a good first impression; landscaping and tasteful decorating enhances the market value of your rental property and attracts good tenants. Transform your rental property into an inviting, livable space with excellent curb appeal, tasteful interior/exterior painting and well manicured landscaping.
Safety is a must Be sure to install and check fire detectors, as well as insure your property is up to date with zoning and public health codes. Halls, entrances, walkways, and parking areas should be safely lighted. Be sure to address overgrown landscaping that may hide an intruder entering your building. And don’t forget to screen your applicants so as to avoid potential property damage or harm to other tenants in the building.
Know your neighbors Landlords who keep well maintained properties and are active within the community benefit greatly through mutual respect. Introduce yourself to the homeowners and other landlords on your street and actively participate in community events and organizations. Good neighbors can be an asset in helping landlords monitor their properties and tenants when they are not around.
